Neanderthals are not Homo sapiens

By admin | May 5, 2008

A new study published in the journal Nature concludes that Neanderthals were a separate species to Homo sapiens. The authors of the study concluded that facial changes are not created suddenly but are actually the result of continuous change. Therefore, the arrival of a specimen that has some minor feature changes should not be automatically categorized as a new species discovery. The authors of the study focused on long term changes in skull shape instead of changes such as the size of the nose etc.
